The IMC Biobank operates in accordance with the Law on Ethics of Biomedical Research of the Republic of Lithuania.
The IMC collaborates with the country's major university hospitals as well as other healthcare institutions from which biological samples are obtained and subsequently stored in the IMC Biobank. Upon obtaining a participant's informed consent to take part in the Biobank's activities, the Biobank is entitled to access the participant's health information from medical records maintained by healthcare institutions, their information systems, as well as other state registers and/or state information systems, in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
The Biobank also processes human biological samples remaining after surgical procedures, invasive and/or interventional procedures, together with the related health information, in accordance with Article 8(8) of the Law on Ethics of Biomedical Research of the Republic of Lithuania.
